MotoGP Brno 2026: Marquez, Acosta and a Field of Rivals Await the Masaryk Circuit
The 2026 MotoGP season’s ninth round is set to light up the historic Masaryk Circuit in Brno, Czech Republic, on 15 June. A field of 20 riders will line up, including reigning world champion Marc Marquez, rising Spanish star Pedro Acosta, and a host of other title‑contenders ready to fight for glory.
Marquez’s return to the front of the grid has been the season’s headline story. After claiming his first 2026 victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix on 7 June, the Ducati Lenovo rider has shown a steady climb up the standings. In 2025 he won Brno twice, but the margins were narrower than his dominant wins elsewhere that year. The 2025 Brno triumph was not a legacy track for him, and the 2026 race will test whether he can replicate that success on a circuit that is not anti‑clockwise and where the layout may become clearer.
Pedro Acosta, who finished second in the 2025 sprint at Brno by less than a second, will be looking for a rematch. He pushed Marquez hard in Hungary, but left the race with the record for the most podiums without a win. The Spanish rider’s 2025 sprint performance and his recent form suggest he could challenge Marquez again.
Other riders have specific points to prove. Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia, who has already claimed four Sunday victories in 2026, has yet to show his pace in Hungary. Jorge Martin, who was involved in the Turn 1 crash that saw the championship leader taken out, will seek redemption and must also serve two long laps. Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura of SuperFile Trackhouse will look to convert their recent points into higher finishes.
Fabio Di Giannantonio and Fermin Aldeguer of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 team were both taken out in the Turn 1 incident. They will aim to recover lost points and re‑establish their positions in the championship.
Francesco Bagnaia, also of Ducati Lenovo, has been on a quiet but solid run. After a podium promotion in Barcelona and a third‑place finish in Hungary, he will be hoping to maintain his momentum. Luca Marini of Honda HRC Castrol, who finished fifth at Balaton, will be buoyed by his recent performance and will be looking to challenge the top Honda.
The Yamaha camp has shown improvement since the tough Mugello weekend. Jack Miller of Prima Pramac Yamaha finished eighth in Hungary, while his teammate Toprak Razgatliouglu was 11th. Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo of Monster Energy Yamaha will aim to join the top‑ten fight.
Joan Mir of Honda HRC Castrol will be searching for a finish after a crash at the previous race. Enea Bastianini of Red Bull KTM Tech3, who was on the sprint podium at Brno last year, will seek a calmer race day. Franco Morbidelli and Maverick Viñales of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 and Red Bull KTM Tech3 teams, respectively, will be looking to find speed and recover from recent setbacks.
Brad Binder of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, who finished in the top ten at Balaton, will hope that memories of his 2020 rookie win at Brno help him find form.
Cal Crutchlow, standing in for the injured Johann Zarco at Castrol Honda LCR, will race at Brno and Assen. His return marks ten years since the British rider won at the circuit in 2016, the first MotoGP win by a Brit since Barry Sheene in 1981.
The Brno race will be the final round of the 2026 season, the last year of 1000‑cc engines before the switch to 850‑cc machines in 2027. With a field of title‑contenders and a track that has delivered memorable moments in the past, the 2026 Czech Grand Prix promises to be a decisive chapter in the season.
The event will take place on 15 June, and fans can expect a weekend where form and momentum will be on the line as riders battle for points and prestige on the Masaryk Circuit.
